Leaders in the DMV region said the federal government’s crime crackdown in Washington, D.C., is starting to ripple across the border into Prince George’s County.
Since President Donald Trump ordered federal agencies to take control of policing in the District, U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi says more than 600 people have been arrested and nearly 90 illegal guns seized.
County officials in Prince George’s fear the heavy law enforcement presence in the city is pushing both crime and unhoused people out of D.C. and into nearby communities.
Council Vice Chair Krystal Oriadha said Black and Latino neighborhoods along the D.C.-Maryland line are already feeling the strain.
