The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development has formed the Division of Business Development to focus on expanding the state’s business community, Secretary Jake Dayannounced Tuesday.
The new division will be largely committed to the development of new or expanding small businesses and nonprofits in DHCD’s Sustainable Communitiesand Priority Funding Areas throughout Maryland. The Division of Business Development will also oversee the DHCD’s Neighborhood Business Works loan program, the department said.
Through the new business division, DHCD will aim to provide support by “offering greater technical assistance and new tools” along with its usual slate of grant and loan funding.
