Maryland collected $28.7 million in cannabis sales tax revenue between April and June 2026, according to the Office of the Comptroller — continuing a steady upward trend since the state raised its cannabis tax rate last year.

The figure builds on $26.2 million collected in the first quarter of 2026, a roughly 9.5% increase quarter-over-quarter. It also marks a substantial jump from the same quarter last year, when Maryland collected about $18.4 million — though that year-over-year comparison is shaped in part by the tax rate itself: Maryland’s cannabis sales and use tax rose from 9% to 12% on July 1, 2025, under the Budget Reconciliation and Financing Act of 2025.

Regionally, Central Maryland again generated the largest share of revenue, at $12.19 million, consistent with recent quarters. The Capital region followed at $6.34 million, Western Maryland at $5.06 million, the Eastern Shore at $3.43 million, and Southern Maryland at $1.66 million.
