Gilbane Building Co. has a new leader for its Greater Washington business, and its billion-dollar book of work.

The company has named Tyler Swartzwelder as a vice president and leader of its business operations in Greater Washington. Gilbane has about 360 local employees and saw $1.05 billion in revenue locally last year, making it the fourth-largest general contractor in the region, according to Washington Business Journal research.

“Tyler’s passion for developing people and building projects that make an impact will make him the perfect person to continue to expand our D.C. Metro area operations,” Paul Choquette III, regional president for Gilbane Building Co.’s Mid-Atlantic division, said in a statement.

Swartzwelder joined Gilbane in 2005, serving the past two years as operations manager. He earned a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from Penn State University.
