Charles County Faces Pivotal Decision On Government Structure In Upcoming Ballot

In Charles County, this election year, the most contentious issue is not the Presidential, Senate or House races, it is a local ballot issue. It’s called Question A, County Charter Adoption Referendum.

A “yes” vote would change the county government to a system with a county executive — like Prince George’s, Montgomery, Anne Arundel, and Frederick counties to name just a few.

A “no” vote would keep the current system of five part-time commissioners.

Supporters believe the fast-growing county needs full-time leadership and a single leader to be held accountable by voters and to represent the county in Annapolis, Md.
