Another large, multi-state cannabis company has taken ownership of a substantial chunk of the Maryland market.
Chicago-based Verano Holdings Corp. (CSE: VRNO)(OTCQX: VRNOF) got approval from regulators to acquire 100% interest in one medical cannabis growing operation, one processing operation and two dispensaries in the state. In one fell swoop, the firm has taken control of four of a maximum possible six cannabis business licenses a single entity is permitted to own in Maryland.
David Spreckman, vice president of marketing and communications for Verano, said the existing owners of the four licenses had already been operating their businesses as Verano affiliates, with oversight from the corporate entity. Now, Verano owns those businesses outright.
Verano’s portfolio of cannabis businesses spans 11 U.S. states. It includes 11 cultivation and production facilities and 85 retail dispensaries.
